One Month

November 6th, 2007 Posted in Everyday life, family

Little Miss Phoebe is one month old today! I don’t know where the month has gone, really! Two more until I have to return to work. I can hardly believe my time at home with her is a third over!

What’s new lately? We’ve been having to learn not to jump at her first cry anymore. She often cries out, and by the time we get to her she’s back asleep. There have even been times where I’ve waited and listened and though, “ok, she’s awake,” but she’s clearly not again when I get to her. But we’re learning!

We’ve yet to see a true smile, but there have been plenty while she sleeps. I’ve even seen/heard her laugh in her sleep. I love it when she does that. I never knew how much fun it could be to just sit and hold a newborn and watch her sleep.

She’s growing leaps and bounds! Rick measured her the other day at 24 inches! She hasn’t been weighed recently, so I don’t know how much she weighs, but I can definitely tell she’s putting on weight. Her cheeks are so chubby! :) I love the little chubby cheeks!

As for me, I’m doing pretty well. I can do more and more around the house. My lower abdomen is still a bit tender, but it gets better every day. I gained somewhere around 40 lbs. in this pregnancy, and I have somewhere around 10-15 lbs left to go. I’m in the weird in between state where maternity pants are falling off of me, but my normal pants won’t zip up. I went out this weekend and got some cheap pants a size up from what I normally wear. I’m finding that those are a bit loose, but I did try on the size down and they were too tight too. So for now it is size up with a belt, or maternity pants that I keep having to pull back up! ;) I hope that soon at the very least, my sizing evens out. Even if my weight isn’t all the way down.

I also cannot wear my wedding ring set still. Seeing as all the swelling is gone (best I can tell), I think that my hand has permanently changed size. I will give it a few more weeks though before I go resize those rings. I do want to have those back on my hand by the time I return to work.

And that’s our one month update! :)

You two are too cute! Has it already been that long? I seriously need to get my butt over to your house to see your little girl!

3 months makes me lucky. A lot of people only get 6 or 8 weeks.

It’s amazing to me how similar today’s post could have been to this one. I have an additional 10 lbs. left to lose from this pregnancy (never lost the 10-15 from Phoebe either). My wedding ring doesn’t fit again, so I’ll likely have to go get it resized as well. Sophie is also smiling and laughing in her sleep, though not when awake. I haven’t measured Sophie, and would be curious how her measurement at one month compares to Phoebe at one month.
