A man, a woman, a toddler, a baby, and a dog

31.5 weeks

August 19th, 2007 Posted in pregnancy, updates

I realize I have not updated in too long! Turns out my back spasms I posted about previously were caused by a rib being out of place. As weird as that sounds. I was referred to Physical Therapy, and I’m now going to that twice a week. Between that, work, and doctor’s visits, I’m tired in the few hours that I’m home! I believe they must have fixed my rib on the first visit, because they haven’t looked at that since. And at the very least, my back spasms have gone away. But I’m not fixed yet. My posture is awful, and that alone causes many backaches that I don’t need. So for now, I continue with therapy for the foreseeable future.

I had another appt. at the ob this past week. When I asked the doctor what the difference in my weight was, she looked at the nurse and asked if she should tell me. The nurse said no. They did not tell me. So apparently the difference was bad enough they didn’t want to tell me, but not bad enough for them to fuss at me. *shrug* I did weigh myself the next morning, which may have been a bit optimistic since it was earlier in the morning and I had yet to eat anything, and I had just gotten out of the shower. But that weigh-in put me up 7 lbs, so around 24 lbs total gained. So far the weight gain isn’t horrible. I do have 8.5 weeks left to gain (give or take a couple)!

Otherwise, things are going pretty well around here. I’ll leave you with the last two photos from 30 and 31 weeks. 32 weeks will be taken in a few short days. ;)

ETA – these 100+ temperature days while pregnant are definitely overrated! ;) It is HOT. And thanks to therapy, I usually have to leave the office building sometime in the day while it is so hot!

An out-of-place rib … OUCH! Glad you’re better.

I didn’t know that band geeks were allowed to have bad posture. I thought y’all needed maximum lung capacity just like us choir nerds.

Get this – I lean back too far. I’ve actually been told to slump for now. Apparently when I slump, my back is more neutral than when I think I’m sitting up straight. So yeah, apparently all those years of being told to sit up straight, and I just arch my back more to feel like I was, was a bad thing. Who knew?

The heat must truly be horrible for you. I can’t stand it, so I can only imagine how it feels for you. Icky! Do you have any spare time this Sunday? I’d like to drop off your shower gift! Yay!
